In the beginning.....
So today I decided to write a blog. What does someone do when they decide this? Well, a smart person researches and researches until she's inundated with a plethora of information on the topic. Yes, that is what I did. I think that now makes me a smart person. My brain officially hurts. But on the bright side, I think I have an idea on how the cool kids are doing it this blogging thing these days.
The biggest obstacle I found was figuring out what my topic would be. Two of my favorite things in the whole world are romance novels and European travel, especially to Ireland. Hence, the title of my blog. When I wrote the title, I instantly pictured Lizzie Bennett walking through the fields reading a book. Think, the opening scene of the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice. Yeah, I'm a hardcore Austenite.
Anywho...back to the subject of the blog. I'm thinking its going to be kind of a mish mosh of things. I mean, I'll tell you about my most recent book read and cover some of my travel experiences, but I figured I could pretty much interdict anything into these posts and tell you about my life. Basically, I'm going to try to talk to you as if we're relaxing on the patio with a pair of margarita's in hand and recounting our woes. Too dramatic??? Ehh, we're gonna talk like we're hanging out. So buckle up buttercup.
I guess I'll start by telling you a little about myself. I'm a 31 year old single woman living in the Midwest. I have an obsession with romance novels and pretty much anything to do with Ireland. I didn't go to college until I was 25 and I swear I was the oldest person on that campus. I majored in history, which is my other obsession. I live in a duplex with my parents. They live upstairs and own the place while I live downstairs. Before you ask, yes they are separate lodgings. No, its not always easy living within shouting distance of your parents especially at my age. But there are perks as well, mainly the fact that I have an Italian mama who loves to cook. Dibs on the Tiramisu. I have an adorable dog named Fox who is too smart for his own good. He's a mutt about the size of a small terrier (16lbs to be exact) and looks like a fox, hence the name. I adopted him from the local shelter and am a huge supporter of pet adoption. There are too many wonderful animals out there who need good homes.
What else can I tell you.....oh I work in a call center. Yeah I know its not the most glamorous job in the world but it pays the bills for now. I want to go to grad school someday so I gotta make money to save and this job does that for me. Always keeping my eyes and my options open but it's slim pickings out there nowadays. I live in a rural area now, but was raised near the big city, so I deal with boredom and restlessness quite often. I studied abroad in Ireland my junior year of college and I'm hoping to go back there for grad school. My ultimate goal is to one day live there. Maybe meet a handsome Irishman...... Who knows what the future holds?
Well on that note, I have to make some dinner and feed the dog so I will be signing off for now. But welcome to my blog everyone, and I hope you all will enjoy my future posts!
Slainte,
M
