First Book Post!!! Wildest Dreams by Kristen Ashley

So remember when I told you all that I decided to start a blog?  Yeah, I think my computer hated that idea because the next day, it decided to not work properly.  And it has been not right ever since.  Sigh, I think it's time to start looking at new computers.  I mean, she's already seven years old and got me through college along with traveling to Ireland for four months so she's had her share of wear and tear.  So there's that to look forward to.  I wasn't planning on springing for a new computer until I go back to grad school which at this point is looking like 2018. But as the French say, c'est la vie...

Moving on, I figured since this is mostly going to be a book blog, I should touch on some of my favorite reads as well as ones I'm looking forward to.  So in order to start things out, I will tell you about one of my all time favorite books that just came out on audio recently.  It's called Wildest Dreams by Kristen Ashley.  In a word, this book is PHENOMENAL!!!!  It is one of those few books that I consistently go back to read over and over again.  I love the fantasy genre (Game of Thrones anyone? Lord of the Rings? You get my drift...) and this love story just hits all the right spots for me. Here's what it says on Goodreads (Wildest Dreams)

Seoafin “Finnie” Wilde was taught by her parents that every breath was a treasure and to seek every adventure she could find. And she learns this lesson the hard way when they perish in a plane crash. But she never forgets and when she discovers there is a parallel universe where every person has a twin, she finds a witch who can send her there so she can have the adventure of a lifetime.

But upon arrival in the Winter Wonderland of Lunwyn, she realizes she’s been played by her twin and finds herself walking down the aisle to be wed to The Drakkar.

Thrown into inauspicious circumstances, with years of practice, Finnie bests the challenges and digs into her adventure. But as Frey Drakkar discovers the woman who is his new wife is not Princess Sjofn, a woman he dislikes but instead, his Finnie, a free-spirit with a thirst for venture just like him, without her knowledge he orders his new bride bound to his frozen world, everlasting.

But at the same time Frey plunges Finnie into a web of political intrigue that includes assassination plots, poison, magic, mystery and… dragons.

Finnie the heroine really resonated with me, as she has a natural thirst for living life to the fullest and makes the best out of her situation. I like to think that I would react like she does, if I was ever thrust into a situation like that. I love her quirky sense of humor and her relatability to the reader. Most of the book is written in her voice, and through her eyes does the fantastical world. that runs parallel to ours, open up for the readers.

What can I say about my Frey?? Yes I called him mine. To me, he is the quintessential man and my favorite Kristen Ashley hero.  He lets Finnie be her free loving self, all the while watching over her and making sure nothing harms her.  He is the fantasy version of Mr. Darcy, and as in P&P, the two main characters start off not liking each other very much.  But that is very quickly resolved, although the story is not just about them finding love with each other.  It is so much more than that. I'm not going to say too much because, obviously I want you to read it, but there is adventure, intrigue, romance, and in the end a happy ending.  I started reading this again while listening to the audio version and it has opened up a whole new appreciation for the story.  So go out and get your own copy of Wildest Dreams.  This is the first book in the Fantasyland series, so I encourage you to get them all.  If you're anything like me, you will crave the next book, then the next, and so on and so forth.  In reality, Kirsten Ashley is an amazing author and anything she writes is awesomely wonderful, so check out all of her books!  Here's some links to Wildest Dreams below.  Enjoy!
